We're Live! (With Some Tips On Finding Beer)
Saturday, 05 September 2009 10:30

Since our (very) soft launch yesterday, we’ve received a lot of feedback. Please keep it coming! If there’s something that you think we should change, from the smallest detail on up, please (pretty please) send us a message, and we’ll do our best to make the site as attractive and useful as possible. Direct all your comments, praise, hate-mail, and helpful suggestions to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

One thing to keep in mind is that we still have a lot of beers to add to the database. We currently have 809 beers entered, but we’ll be adding lots more in the coming weeks. So please, check back often. The 3 most recent entries will be displayed at the top of your homepage, and you can follow the link below them to see all of the beers in order of entry date.

As for the beers themselves, we’ve made an effort to select beers that are pretty widely distributed. Even so, we realize that you will see plenty of beers on the site unavailable in your local area. While we recommend blaming this on the antiquated cronyism of the three-tier beer distribution system, there are ways of working around this problem.

One is to take your printed wishlist to a local beer store and ask for help identifying which beers are available locally. Another is to visit the variety of online retailers that will ship hard to find beers right to your door. And finally, if you want to take the next step into beer geekdom, check out the beer trading communities on sites like BeerAdvocate and RateBeer. Beer trading, while a legal grey area, is a great way to try beers you’d never be able to get otherwise and to simultaneously make new friends that share a passion for good beer.

What is BeerChooser?
Thursday, 03 September 2009 19:11

As beer lovers, we’ve sometimes found it difficult to navigate the seemingly endless options now available to beer drinkers. BeerChooser hopes to eliminate some of the guesswork, giving you personalized beer recommendations based on what you’ve liked in the past.

By rating beers, you teach BeerChooser what you like and what you don’t like, creating a profile of your taste. Based on the ratings of other BeerChooser users, you get recommendations tailored specifically to your preferences.

BeerChooser also allows you to create a list of favorites and a wishlist of beers you want to try. We created these tools due to the countless times we’ve found ourselves staring at a wall of beer, unable to remember which beers we liked and which we’ve been meaning to try. Your BeerChooser “Favorites” and “Wishlist” can be printed out or accessed from a mobile internet device to help guide you through your beer choices. To learn more about how BeerChooser works and all of its useful features, visit the FAQ section.
